Any thoughts on whether this tour is a one-time deal, or is there a chance we could see summer dates added later. I know there is nothing official, but wondering if there are any good rumors or speculation. What do you think? The venues present a problem for me.

Sorry if this has been covered, but didn't see anything posted. OK, I didn't really look that hard.

I totally thought that they would do a 2 part Spring Tour and add more West Coast dates on the back end....Then I thought mabye they want to do a Summer Tour with mainly WC dates and a sprinkle of Mid-West and East Coast....

Some things to remember:

Phil has a very strict schedule he must follow for his health, he must keep his sress levels low and his energy high (tons of rest, proper diet, meds and vitimans)

Mr. Weir is a big fan of $$$

Mickey and Billy have said on many occasians that they don't like beating up old Dead tunes for too long....

I really think they will do a Summer Fest Tour (Rothbury, GOTV, Bonnaroo, 10K Lakes) with single city dates tossed in there and make a Fall Theatre Tour (The Riv, Nokkia, other small venues).

I will be at Allstate on 05-05-09 since I live in Chicago, but nothing else is even remotley close...

I think their gonna do some summer dates. This is from the grateful dead website:

Happy New Year, everybody!! Hope and change are in the air! So what better way to kick off 2009 than to confirm what’s been buzzing in the rumor mill for some time: The Dead will be touring for the first time in more than four years, with nearly twenty shows spread across a month from mid-April through mid-May! Details will be announced here soon, so keep your eyes on dead.net!

The lineup for this edition of The Dead will be the same one that rocked the house at Penn State last fall at the Obama benefit: The Core Four of Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann, joined by guitar monster Warren Haynes and RatDog keyboard ace Jeff Chimenti (both veterans of the 2004 Dead "Wave That Flag" tour). The mood of the band for this Spring Fling is way up, so it’s sure to be a great tour!

Dead.net will be your official hub for ALL news about the tour, including dates and ticket info... and perhaps even a few surprises along the way!

So gas up the Tourmobile, get out that really wild tie-dye--you know, the one with the red spiral melting into the purple and green that’s in a heap of clothes in the back of your closet--and start getting into Show Shape!

You know it’s gonna get stranger, so let’s get on with the show...

I think its obvious that they are hinting at somthing... "Dead.net will be your official hub for ALL news about the tour, including dates and ticket info... and perhaps even a few surprises along the way!" also "You know it's gonna get stranger..."

Yeah - like a $39.99 video release turd (+ $8.99 shipping).

This is all one giant joke.

A soon-to-be $2 trillion deficit, two corrupt political parties, the Patriots not in the playoffs, and these 70 yr old has-beens playing big arena shows. Can things get any worse around here?

I saw that shot. Hoody looked happy in his last presser as well. He's just glad he didn't have to watch Ed Reed and Ray L kick the crap out of Cassel on Sunday. Might have cost the Pats a 1st round pick.

ACC sneaking up on some folks, huh? We knew about Duke and NC, but Wake and Clemson making some noise now. 4 out of the top 5 in some power rankings.

I think Wake's youth will catch up with them, and Duke is definitely overrated at no. 2 but they are fun to watch. Clemson is dangerous. All that said, when it comes time for the Final Four I still expect (unfortunately) to see UNC and UConn in the hunt.

The pessimist in me says that it will all revolve around $. They see enough demand and they don't kill each other, I'll bet we see them again (or at least add more dates to this current run). I'd like to think that once they see all the grateful fans flocking to hear their music and "share in the good vibes" that they'll continue, but I'm afraid I've become way too cynical for that.

That and you figure that stamina and health figure into it. Not sure that Phil is up to a full fledged coast-to-coast tour. But we'll see.
